Seating first started its life as a three-legged stool before evolving into today's chair. A simple three-legged turned stool would have its rear leg extended outwards and a board attached perpendicularly, thus creating a backrest. Over time the backrest was widened, padded and suppored by adding diagonal spindles to the front legs. The Hera Barstool is an updated provincial version, with a curved back of open slats integrated into a dished wooden seat. Offset box stretchers join square tapered and canted legs.
